Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry children who would grow up together eventually, learned very young how to overcome of her difficulties by using her rich and imaginative imagination. Prior to learning how to read or write and compose her own music. In the year she turned eight, she bought the first electric guitar she owned and started singing at an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. She recorded her first album during the same year with Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. Although she was studying, she established a name for herself on the local scene. However, her goal was to be able to make music on a bigger scale. When she was graduating in 1964 she moved to Nashville. The first charting record she had with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner's syndicated TV show needed the services of a new singer by this point. Parton took the offer and in the year 1967, she signed to RCA Records in 1968 and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. Parton left the show but in 1974, because her solo albums like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Parton composed I Will Always love You in honor of Wagoner after their breakup. It reached number one. It was the first time a song reached No.
