April Ross
April Ross was one of only a few women beach volleyball stars who won medals at more than one Olympics. Alix klineman, who is playing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics and will attempt to win her third medal. Ross will also be hoping for her very first Olympic medal. At 39, it could be her last opportunity to do so. But she's convinced that winning the gold medal is in reach. Ross was mentioned on NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very top, even if you play well we will get the gold. It's also going to be a matter of chance. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a her sister. Ross played in numerous sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball as well as basketball as well as running and track. Although she was a pro in indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her performance was above average. As per her biography in high school, she was a volleyball player as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and setting (outside blocker). To honor her achievements she was awarded the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. In 2000, she was awarded an Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles from 2017. But, Ross was an important player in the world of beach volleyball before the pairing. The fact is, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one partner was a volleyball superstar. From 2007 until 2013, she was a team with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy's teammate Ross, who was the winner of the world championship with Kessy in 2009, was also an important player on the international stage. The duo took silver in London's Olympics. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team which took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, took each other to take home the gold medal. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball trophy at the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross started her college time with the Trojans at USC in graduation from high school. This was years before Ross hit the sand and turned professional. And her run in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. When she was a freshman in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. The Trojans were also able to get to the Final Four with her help. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal loss but still managed to repeat as an All-American. In her last two seasons as a player, she led the Trojans up to the summit netting consecutive national championships. Ross was an excellent volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross had been an international studies student at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter make it to the top in beach volleyball. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore in USC. Ross holds her mother very dearly. Margie is a source of inspiration both in her personal life and at the beach.
